Rivers, 83, of Shreveport, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, after a brief illness. He was a retired timber inspector, and formerly worked for the J. W. Jeffries Lumber Co., Inc. He was a native of Sabine Parish, and had lived in the Shreveport area 26 years. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Dec. 12, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Shreveport, by the Rt. Rev. John C. Vandegaer, church pastor. Burial was at Centuries Memorial Park, by Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Survivors include his widow; a son, Woodrow G. Rivers of Shreveport; five daughters, Mrs. Lillie Antal of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Doris Lander of Shreveport, Mrs. Gladys Kline, and Mrs. Helen Dungan, both of Bossier City, and Mrs. Myrtle Coats of Baton Rouge; a brother, George Rivers of Pleasant Hill; a sister, Mrs. Nancy Ferguson of Zwolle; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Among his nieces and nephews in the Zwolle area are Mrs. Clarence Ebarb, Mrs. Jimmy Diamond, Mrs. Lawrence Ebarb, Reasing Rivers, Leroy Rivers, Fred Rivers, Clyde Rivers, Herbert Ferguson, Huey Ferguson, Jeff Ferguson, Mrs. Elmer Rivers, and Mrs. Joe Craig.
