Rivers, age 26 years, was killed Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 7, when a load of logs shifted on a truck bed, and crushed him in a lumber yard at Zwolle. The deceased was employed by a Zwolle logging contractor. City Marshall Quinton Brandon, who investigated, along with Deputy Coroner, Dr. J. Lane Sauls, said Rivers loosened the binders of the load, and two logs at the top rolled off, striking him on the head. Funeral services were held Friday morning at 9 o'clock, at St. Ann's Catholic Church at Ebarb, with the pastor, the Rev. William Pierce, officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Zwolle, under the direction of the Warren Funeral Home of Many. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rivers of Zwolle; four brothers, Ben, Johnny, Robert, and Kenneth Rivers, all of Zwolle; eight sisters, Mrs. Hazel Taylor of Zwolle, Mrs. Bertha Livingston of Many, Mrs. James Bell of Kilgore, Tex., Mrs. Ruth Talley of Bogalusa, Miss., Thelma Sue Rivers of San Antonio, Tex., Mrs. Josephine Garcia, Miss Doris Rivers, and Miss Magdalene Rivers, all of Zwolle; and a number of nieces and nephews.
