Monroe Roberts, 95, of Provencal, died Friday, Sept. 21, in a Natchitoches hospital, after a long illness. Services were held at 2 p.m., in Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home Chapel in Natchitoches, with the Rev. Troy Wheeler, and the Rev. Robert M. McGill Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Shady Grove Cemetery near Bellwood. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Jane Roberts of Provencal; six sons, Curtis Roberts of Smithville, Texas, Chester Roberts of Pineville, Truman Roberts, and Hershel Roberts, both of Baton Rouge, Sherman Roberts of LeCompte, and Billy Roberts of Natchitoches; three daughters, Jewel Evans of Baton Rouge, Claudia Rashall of Shreveport, and Willie McGrath of Hurst, Texas; two sisters, Louise Hawthorne of Provencal, and Julia Key of Mansfield; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
