All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Lanah Touchstone Ross 4 Aug 1939 - Mrs. Lanah Touchstone Ross died Friday, July 28, at 11 p.m. at the family residence at the age of 72 years, three months and 26 days. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church Saturday, July 29, at 4:30 p.m., with interment in Many cemetery. The Dennis-Green funeral home in charge of arrangements. Rev. C. W. Williams, pastor of the First Baptist church, conducted the services. Mrs. Ross was born April 2, 1867, at Harrisville, Miss. She was was married Jan. 21, 1894 to Joseph Ellis Ross in the home of her father, Judge Green Touchstone,, the home of her birth. To this union were born seven children, four of whom died in infancy. Just a few months after her marriage, her father passed away followed in a short time by her mother. Later Mr. and Mrs. Ross moved to Pleasant Hill, La., where they made their home about one year and six months, them moved to Many, building on the site of their present residence which they occupied until their deaths, Mr. Ross preceded Mrs. Ross in death ten years and three days. Mr. and Mrs. Ross were both good Christians and staunch member of the Baptist church. They were both charter members of the First Baptist church, and have always been active workers in the church as long as they were physically able. Mrs. Ross is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Kerr, Many, and Mrs. W. E. Warnsley, Mansfield, and one son, Joseph Ellis Ross, Mer Rouge; one grandson, Ellis Arlington Kerr, Many; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Hilton, age 90 years, of Jackson, Miss., and Mrs. Phronie Harper, age 82 years, Star, Miss.
