All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Myrtle Bowman Ross (Photo) Mrs. Myrtle Bowman Ross, 92, a lifelong resident of Shreveport, passed away August 24, 1987, at Autumn Leaves Nurse Care Center. Services were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, August 28, at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel. The Rev. David Rakes, assistant pastor of Broadmoor Baptist Church, officiated. Mrs. Ross was a devoted and active member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, joining Shreveport Chapter 237 in September 1951. She will be especially remembered for her loyalty, good works, and leadership, as director for six years for the Betty Youree Chapter of the Children of the Confederacy. Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Ross. She is survived by two daughters, Katherine Ross Osteen of Shreveport, and Mrs. Ella V. Pryor of Laurel, Miss.; a son-in-law, Edward N. Tucker of Shreveport; five granddaughters, Patricia O. Franklin, and Mrs. Donna O. Comito, both of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Marguerite O. Pollard of Slidell, La., Mrs. Mary Ellen Thornhill of Gulfport, Miss., and Edward R. Tucker of Council Bluff, Iowa; eight great granddaughters, Valerie, Alison, and Kathleen Pollard of Slidell, La., Edie K. Tucker, and Tiffany Tucker of Council Bluff, Iowa, Laura B. Schwein, and Susan Spincken of Denver, Colo., and Melanie Thornhill of Gulfport, Miss.; three great grandsons, Brad Ross Tucker, and Joel Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one great-great granddaughter, Jennifer Spincken; two nephews, L. D. Todd of Shreveport, and Bobbie Rains of Zwolle; three nieces, Elaine Grace of Keithville, Judy Rains of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Billie Jo Rains of San Francisco. Pallbearers were Paul L. Osteen, Lander Osteen, Cecil C. Bettevy, Steve Baker, W. A. Hendrick, and Jesse Young.
