Officiating were Dr. William Crosby. Burial was in Mansfield Cemetery. Mr. Ricks died Monday, May 20, in Shreveport, after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of DeSoto Parish, and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Mansfield. He served on the DeSoto Parish Police Jury for 12 years, was a member of the Mansfield Chapter #103. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lyntine P. Ricks of Mansfield; one son, James O. Ricks Jr. and his wife Linda of Shreveport; one daughter, Barbara Valentine and her husband Leonard of Mansfield; two sisters, Effie Ricks of Many, and Willie Mae Bolton of Peoria, Illinois; two brothers, W. A. Ricks, Richard Dean Valentine and his wife Andrea, William James Valentine and his wife Carlene, Robert Craig Valentine and his wife Elaine, Debra Lynn Hodgson and her husband Ronald; six great granddaughters; three great grandsons. Pallbearers were Richard Dean Valentine, William James Valentine, Robert Craig Valentine, Ronald P. Hodgson, James Ricks, and Billy Ricks. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacon body of the First Baptist Church, and also Dr. Daniel Moller, Dr. F. D. Griffen, and Dr. Robert Taylor.
