Ross (Photo) Funeral services for Edward Columbus (E. C.) Ross, 87, of Beulah Community, Many, were held at Beulah Baptist Church, Friday, May 31, 1996, at 10 a.m. Interment was at Beulah Cemetery, with Rev. Kenneth Leach Sr. officiating. Mr. Ross passed away May 29, after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Fairby Byrd; his father, James Monroe Ross; and his mother, Eula Maitlain Arthur Ross. Other ancestors were Thomas Jefferson Arthur, Sarah "Sallie" Black, Martha Louise McMillian, and Andrew Jackson Ross. Siblings who preceded him in death were William Washington (Bill) Ross, Cecil (Doc) Ross, and Evelyn Ross. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ross Glisson; and son-in-law, Robert Gene Glisson of Richmond Hill, Ga.; grandson, Robert Ross Glisson of Macon, Ga. Sisters who survive him are Miss Mable Ross, Mrs. Gladys Boice, Mrs. Katherine Derrick, Mrs. Charlsie Wright of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Dean Corley of Many, Mrs. Bernice Freeman of Mansfield, and Mrs. Alma Edwards of Shreveport; one brother, Mr. Allen (Tink) Ross, also of Beulah Community; a host of nieces and nephews, and grand nephews and nieces. Mr. Ross was a lifelong resident of Sabine Parish, where he was a cotton planter, and rancher for many years. He was educated in Sabine Parish Schools, and graduated from the Old Alliance High School. Mr. Ross had been a member of the Beulah Baptist Church since childhood. He was a 50 year member of Little Flock Lodge #236, Free and Accepted Masons. He recently received his 25 year award from the Order of the Many Eastern Star, Chapter 171. Active pallbearers were nephews, Danny Derrick, Mike Ross, Greg Ross, Sidney Speight, Jim Hembree, Mark Wright, Oscar Ross, and Larry Ross. Honorary pallbearers were Brothers of Little Flock Lodge.
