The Veterans of Foreign Wars officiated at the graveside services. Mr. Russell, a native of Noble, La., died at a Reno, Nev. Hospital on Sept. 16, 1985, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Ida Aten Russell of Herlong; two sons, Kenneth Ray, and David Lynn Russell, both of Herlong; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Russell Anderson of Noble; four grandchildren; one nephew, Ray Dean Russell of Loyalton, Calif.; three great nieces; four great nephews; six great-great nephews; and four great-great nieces. Mr. Russell was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, having served in the Pacific area in the Navy during World War II. He was a Mason, and a member of the Baptist Church. He had many friends in Sabine Parish, where he spent the first half of his life. He was born Aug. 22, 1907, and had lived in Calif. 38 years. He was a heavy equipment operator at Sierra Army Depot in Herlong for 25 years.
