(Bobby) Rogers (Photo) Funeral services for Mr. Robert E. (Bobby) Rogers of Many, were held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, on September 26, 1986, at 2 p.m., with Father Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Rogers died in Shreveport on September 24, 1986. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Glenda Q. Rogers; his parents, Carson and Ada Rogers; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Bea Quayhagen Veuleman, all of Many. Mr. Rogers was a well known civic leader in the Many area. He was active in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans, having served as a member and officer in these organizations. He was well known and respected in Sabine Parish, as well as throughout this region of the state, for his work with the League for Outdoor Recreation, which he helped organize in 1985. Mr. Rogers has served many in Sabine Parish, through his work as a tax accountant. In addition, he has served as Service Officer for the V. F. W., Adjutant, Commander, and Member of the American Legion, and Registrar, and Board Member for the Selective Service. Prior to his service in the U. S. Army, Mr. Rogers worked for Nichols Dry Goods, McBride Construction Company, and as a self employed Building Contractor. He served in the U. Army from September, 1966, through March, 1969. He received the Purple Heart Award for wounds received in action, October 31, 1967, in the Republic of Vietnam. After returning from the Army, Mr. Rogers served with the Department of Army Finance and Accounting, as the Parish Service Officer for the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Rogers will be remembered as a neighborhood spokesman and leader, as well as an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. Pallbearers were Elmo Langton, Ritchie Langton, Creed Lester, Bobby Ray Rogers, Grady B. Cotton, and Danny Lites. Honorary pallbearers were Joey Langton, Wade Langton, Dewayne Rains, Rue Alford, Darrel Lehr, and Joe Cruse.
