All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Joseph Alton Rogers Joseph Alton Rogers, 28, of Florien, was pronounced dead on arrival at Many Hospital on Monday, June 30, as the result of a gunshot wound, according to the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Dept. Rogers was at his parents' home in the Florien community. According to the Sheriff's Dept., his parents and brother heard a gunshot, and discovered Roger's body on the screened-in front porch. Deputy Coroner, Dr. V. M. John of Many, ruled that Rogers died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred at 1:45 p.m., Monday afternoon. Rogers is survived by his widow, Mrs. Kathy Rogers of Florien; a daughter, Patricia Denise Rogers of Florien; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Rogers of Florien; five brothers, Garland Rogers of Crowville, William H. Rogers of Florien, Finis Gerald Rogers of Many, Herman Ray Rogers of Florien, and Paul Rogers of Baskin; six sisters, Betty Armstrong, Margie Fife, and Diane Rogers, all of Florien, Louise Dearman of Rosehill, Miss., Dejuana Fife of Avondale, and Callie Jean Robinson of Marrero. Funeral services were held at the Beulah Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 2, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Frank Chance, and the Rev. Kenneth Leach officiating. Burial was in the Beulah Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
