Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 10, at 2:30 p.m., at the 12th District Auditorium, with the Rev. Lee Collier, the Rev. R. McNeil, the Rev. Reecie Medlock, the Rev. C. A. Lilly, and the Rev. L. D. Davis, assisting with the services. Interment was in the New Jerusalem Cemetery, under the direction of Jenkins Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Clarence Johnson, J. C. McClanahan, Simon Jackson, Brody Maxie, Oliver Sibley, and Nathan Holland. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Margie Nell Smiley of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Ronnie D. Smiley of Tyler, Tx., Frederick Smiley of Houston, and Vanessa Paulette Smiley of Houston; one brother Artis Johnson of Many; one sister, Louella Johnson of Lake Charles; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many, many friends. Ms. Richard was a long time writer for the SABINE INDEX, and she will be sadly missed by all the employees and her readers.
