All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Vera Mae Osborn Rains Mrs. Vera Mae Osborn Rains, 92, of Marthaville died Thursday, Sept. 25, at Heritage Manor of Natchitoches. Mrs. Rains was a native of Spring Ridge. She was a resident of Marthaville and a member of the First Baptist Church of Marthaville for the past 62 years and was a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Rains was a well known gospel singer at the Singing Conventions in Sabine and Natchitoches Parishes in her younger years, and a mail carrier from 1935 to 1975 in the Marthaville and Belmont area. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept 27, at First Baptist Church in Marthaville with burial following at Marthaville Cemetery. The Rev. Ray Dyess officiated. Survivors include one son, Dale Rains and wife, JoAnne of Clinton, S. C.; one daughter, Frankie Dean Latham and husband, G. T. "Pete" of Dear Park, Texas; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rains was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rains and parents, Sam and Janie Osborn also one sister and four brothers. Blanchard-St. Denis Natchitoches, La.
