Rains 2 Aug 1940 - Funeral services for L. A. Rains, better know at Arnold Rains, who died at the home of his son. F. L. Rains of Marthaville Friday morning, were held Saturday afternoon at Marthaville Friday morning, were held Saturday afternoon at Marthaville cemetery, Rev. Prothro of Marthaville conducted the services and the Drewitt funeral home of Mansfield was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rains had many friends in Marthaville and surrounding parishes. He had held the office of constable and deputy sheriff for 14 yeas in Natchitoches parish. During the time he served in this capacity he made many staunch friends. Mr. Rains is survived by three daughters and one son, his wife having died 23 years ago. The daughters are: Mrs. O. P. Johnson, Shreveport; Mrs. Ruby Buswell, Jonesville: Mrs. E. R. Riles, Rodessa. The son is F. L. Rains of Marthaville, One brother, Dixon Rains, Many, and seven grandchildren. The pallbearers were: Carl Knott, E. E. Law, E. E. Campbell, Ed Moore and C. D. Rains.
