Rains, 80, were held recently at the Marshall Street chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lowell Todd, chaplain at Veterans Administration Hospital, and the Rev. Tom Nettles, associate pastor of Broadmoor Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Centuries Memorial Park. A native of Marthaville, Mr. Rains was dead on arrival Monday, May 6, at 11 a.m., at Physicians and Surgeons Hospital, following a sudden illness. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eula Mae Rains; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred R. Pardue of Maude, Tex., and Mrs. Wayburn R. Neely of Shreveport; two brothers, Amos A. Rains of Shreveport, and Theo L. Rains of Many; a sister, Mrs. Blanche DeBose of Coushatta, and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Russell Navarre, R. H. Schrivner, Rayburn Green, Aubrey Fawcett, Luther Miller, Raymond Johnston, Jack Fallin, and Ralph Johnston. Honorary pallbearers were employees of the Coca-Cola Co.
