Rains, 82, of Shreveport, died at 9:15 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, in Willis-Knighton Hospital, after a long illness. The Marthaville native had resided in Shreveport since 1942. He was a retired salesman. A World War I veteran, he held memberships in the Veterans of World War I, and the American Legion. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, in the Osborn Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. D. L. Dykes, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sarah Rains; a son, William M. Rains of Houston, Tex.; three brothers, Ray J. Rains of Marthaville, Hoyt E. Rains, and Rolly R. Rains, both of Shreveport; and a sister, Mrs. Vera R. Curry, also of Shreveport. Pallbearers were Lee Goven, Harold Raines, Perry Montgomery, Don Ware, Herbert Sibley, Earl Dyson, and W. L. Moore.
