Foster Jennings officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Mavin Free. Burial was in Springridge Cemetery. She died at 10:20 p.m., Friday, August 7, at Roy H. Laird Hospital in Kilgore, Tex., following a short illness. Mrs. Rains, born in Pleasant Hill, and a resident of Shreveport 5 years, was a retired school teacher, and member of the Congregational Methodist Church. Mrs. Rains is survived by her husband, Elmer Rains of Shreveport; five sons, Sam Rains, Donnie Rains, and Dannie Rains of Shreveport, George Rains of Kilgore, Tex., and Bennie Rains of Houston, Tex.; three daughters, Dean DeHart, Mary Vernell, and Lee Phillips, all of Shreveport; one brother, Roy Dyess of Shreveport; two sisters, Alma Watson of Pleasant Hill, and Rammie King of Minden; twelve grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
