Bessie Mae Dyess Rains

  Services for Mrs. Bessie Mae Dyess Rains, 76, of Shreveport,
were at 2 p.m., Monday, August 10, at the Springridge Baptist
Church in Pleasant Hill, with Rev. Foster Jennings officiating.
He was assisted by Rev. Mavin Free. Burial was in Springridge
Cemetery.

  She died at 10:20 p.m., Friday, August 7, at Roy H. Laird
Hospital in Kilgore, Tex., following a short illness. Mrs. Rains,
born in Pleasant Hill, and a resident of Shreveport 5 years, was
a retired school teacher, and member of the Congregational
Methodist Church.

  Mrs. Rains is survived by her husband, Elmer Rains of
Shreveport; five sons, Sam Rains, Donnie Rains, and Dannie Rains
of Shreveport, George Rains of Kilgore, Tex., and Bennie Rains of
Houston, Tex.; three daughters, Dean DeHart, Mary Vernell, and
Lee Phillips, all of Shreveport; one brother, Roy Dyess of
Shreveport; two sisters, Alma Watson of Pleasant Hill, and Rammie
King of Minden; twelve grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
