Alvin W. Rains

  Services for Mr. Alvin W. Rains, 78, of Shreveport, were held at
1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at Wellman Funeral Home Chapel. The
Rev. Leon Williams, associate pastor of Highland Baptist Church,
officiated. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery.

  Mr. Rains, a lifelong resident of Shreveport, died Wednesday,
Dec. 25, 1985, at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home, after a brief
illness. He was born in Marthaville. Mr. Rains was a cab driver,
and was a veteran.

  He is survived by one daughter, Melva Fairfield of Huber
Heights, Ohio; four brothers; one sister; two grandchildren; one
great grandchild.
