  Bertha Dixon Rains - June 30, 1988

  Many, LA. Services were held for Bertha D. Rains at 1:30 p.m.
Monday, June 27 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many.
Officiating was Rev. Joe H. Ratcliff. Interment followed in the
Marthaville Cemetery.

  Mrs. Rains, a resident of Many most of her adult life, expired
in Shreveport Saturday, June 25, after a lengthy illness.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dixon Rains, on son,
C. D. Rains and one granddaughter, Ester Rains Collins.

  Mrs. Rains and her husband managed the Rains Hotel in Many for
many years. She was a member of the Many First Baptist Church and
of the Order of the Eastern Star.

  Survivors include two daughters, Elvie Campbell of Marthaville,
and Argerine Taylor of Shreveport, eight grandchildren and
numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and
nephews and nieces.

  She will be remembered by friends and family for her loving and
generous manner, her acceptance of the challenge of life and a
zest for us living.
