Mrs. Bonnie Rhames of Hemphill was dead at the scene of the accident. Mrs. Arlene Fields of Tyler died on arrival at a Lufkin hospital. The accident occurred at 8:30 p.m., four and one half miles north of Hemphill, on Highway 87. Injured was Mrs. Rhames' husband, who was taken to a Many hospital; two of her children, who were treated and released, and Mrs. Fields' husband, H. C. Fields, who was taken to a Lufkin hospital; and three of their children, Kenny Fields, who was admitted in serious condition in a Hemphill hospital, and Arlin, and Jerry Wayne Fields, who were treated and released. Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie Rhames were held Monday, at the Mansfield Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Bengston officiating. Survivors include her husband; four sons, Billy Mitchell, and Ronnie Mitchell, both of Arcadia, Burney W. Mitchell, and Gary Mitchell, both of Hemphill; one daughter, Audrey Mitchell of Many; five brothers, T. T. Shaw of Mansfield, L. H. Shaw of Newton, Ill., the Rev. L. W. Shaw of Independence, Mo., M. O. Shaw of Grand Galls, Mont., and O. W. Shaw of Bossier City; one sister, Mrs. Mable Truss of Converse; and her mother, Mrs. Betty Crane of Converse.
