The Rev. Mrs. Ada Barnes officiated. Burial was in the Spring Ridge Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Active pallbearers were Jessie Wells, Guffey Pattison, Clyde Blankenship, Curtis Rains, M. B. Gewin, and W. H. Gewin. Survivors are one son, Nuell Rains of Victoria, Texas; five daughters, Mrs. V. J. Vickers of Zwolle, Mrs. A. P. Thompson of Beaumont, Mrs. V. A. Thompson of Victoria, Mrs. L. F. Davis of Freeport, Texas, and Mrs. T. P. Rachal of Beaumont; one brother, Frank Rains of Marthaville; two sisters, Mrs. W. M. Osborn of Pleasant Hill, and Mrs. Minnie Bardwell of Shreveport; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
