Richard J. Remedies, 20, were notified Thursday morning, Aug. 3, that their son had been killed in Viet Nam action near Di An, 17 miles south of Saigon. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Remedies of Zwolle said that they were notified that their son was shot by friendly forces, while on guard duty, Aug. 1, and died Aug. 2. Remedies, who enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation from Zwolle High School in 1966, had arrived in Viet Nam in mid July. Funeral services were to be conducted Thursday, Aug. 10, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Zwolle, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Robert C. Friend officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many, with full military rights at the graveside. Military personnel from Ft. Polk served as pallbearers. Surviving relatives include his parents; six brothers, Ronnie, Tommy, Mike, P?, Randy, and Kenny, all of Zwolle; two sisters, Mrs. Ronnie Sadler of Overton, Tex., and Ruth Remedies of Zwolle; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Pat Lopez of Zwolle, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hosea Remedies, all of Zwolle.
