Highway 475 at 1:20 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, went out of control and crashed, resulting in the deaths of one 24 year old man and three teenagers, according to the La. State Police. Investigating officers at the scene included Troopers James D. Napier, H. W. Davis, and G. O. Elliott Jr., all of Troop H., Leesville. The accident occurred about five miles south of Zwolle. The victims were Charles Remedies, 24, of Zwolle, Larry D. Malmay, 16, and brothers, Leslie Lee Campbell, 17, and Austin Curtis Campbell, 16, all of Noble. The teenagers were all passengers in a truck driven by Remedies. According to a witness, the truck, which was traveling north at a high rate of speed, went out of control after passing his vehicle. The truck crossed the center line and went off the road on the left side, traveling approximately 120 feet before ramming into a tree. The force of the impact snapped the truck into two separate parts. Investigating officers said the four were killed instantly. They were all pronounced dead at the scene by Sabine Parish Coroner, Dr. R. J. Oosta. Charles S. Remedies is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Remedies of Zwolle; two brothers, Louis Remedies, and Joseph Remedies, both of Zwolle; three sisters, Lois Sepulvado, Mary Jane Sepulvado, and Phyllis Remedies, all of Zwolle; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Remedies of Zwolle; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Steve Parrie of Zwolle. Funeral services were held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m., with Father Patrick A. Scully officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Remedies was a 1971 graduate of Zwolle High School. The three teenagers were students at Ebarb High School. Malmay is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lenis Malmay of Noble; two brothers, Ray Malmay, and Roy Malmay, both of Noble; two sisters, Tamy Malmay, and Faye Malmay, both of Noble; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Pete Malmay; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Sepulvado of Noble. Malmay, who was a member of the Freshman Class at EHS, was a new member of the B-string basketball team, according to school officials. The Campbell brothers, Leslie Lee, 17, and Austin Curtis, 16, are survived by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Campbell of Noble; two brothers, Stephen Earl Campbell of Grapevine, Tex., and Malcolm Lloyd Campbell of the United States Marine Corps; a sister, Mrs. Darlene Smelley of Noble; and their paternal grandmother, Mrs. Leslie Campbell of Grand Saline, Tex. Both of the Campbell brothers were members of the Future Farmers of America at EHS. Leslie Lee was a member of the junior class, and Austin Curtis was a sophomore. Joint funeral services for Malmay and the Campbell brothers were held at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Monday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. Father Boyer officiated at the rites. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
