The Sabine Index - C. J. Speaks

  16 Jan 1948 - C. J. Speaks, age 74, who died in a Shreveport
hospital, was laid to rest at Spring Ridge Jan. 1. Funeral
services were held from the Baptist church there at 1 p.m. by
Rev. W. M. Greer, pastor. Calvary Baptist church, Many, assisted
by Rev. J. D. Scott, Baptist rural evangelist, also of Many.

  Surviving relatives include: sons, Edgar Speaks, Pelican and
Isaac Speaks., Shreveport; daughters, Mrs. Floyd Self, Many, Mrs.
Vivetta Isom, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Obie Evans and Mrs. Teddy Nett,
both of Shreveport;; sisters, Mrs. Betty Galbert, Shreveport,
Mrs. Trudy Taylor, Palestine, Texas; 14 grandchildren.

  Interment was under direction Massingill funeral home.
