All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mr. Joel William Speights (Photo) Funeral services for Mr. Joel William Speights, age 93, were held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, at Calvary Baptist Church, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. Bobby Dye, and Rev. Wayne Reeves. Masonic graveside services continued at the Little Flock Cemetery. Mr. Speights died Tuesday, June 22, 1993, at his residence, after a lengthy illness. He served on the board of directors of People's State Bank for 20 years, was a Civil Engineer, having served 20 years as Police Jury member, and was a Road Maintenance Supervisor for Sabine Parish. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mabel; one daughter, Opal Anthony; and one son, Joel J. Speights. Mr. Speights is survived by one son, Paul Speights and his wife Theresa of Many; three daughters, Yvonne Salter of Many, Faye Williams and her husband W. A. of Many, and Mary Shows of Many; daughter-in-law, Claudette Speights of Berwick, La.; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Arien Speights, Dan? Salter, Darren Shows, Steve? Alford, Gary Kilgo, and Jim Sto?eciphes. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Board of Directors of People's State Bank, Robert Dale Geoghagan, Raymond Barnhill, Edwin Ray Lites, Calvin Jones, J. J. Blake III, and Robert Gentry.
