Sibley 25 Aug 1944 - Cpl. John H. Sibley, age 24, was killed in action July 28, according to a telegram received by his parents. He was in a medical detachment. Cpl. Sibley was inducted into the army Oct. 3, 1941, served one year in the States and was sent overseas September 19. He was stationed in England until he was shipped to France for the invasion. A letter from the war department stated: "There was no information available. Reports of this nature contain only the briefest details as they are prepared under battle conditions and means of transmission are limited. Cpl. Sibley is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Sibley, one brother, Cpl. Doris W. Sibley, somewhere in France; two sisters, Misses Lucill and Imogene Sibley.
