Tom Miller, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Sibley was 67. He died after a few weeks illness, at Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Virginia. He was a native of Rt. 1, Many, Louisiana, but had made his home in Virginia for the past 28 years. He will be remembered by a host of relatives and friends here and other places, for his devotion and love for his church, family, and fellow man. He was ordained a deacon as a young man, in the Glendale Baptist church in Houston, Tex., and served as an active deacon in his church in Virginia until shortly before his death, when his health failed. He served in the U. S. Navy, and was medically discharged after three years. Mr. Sibley is survived by his wife, Emma Hall Sibley of Church View, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Cery of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Sara Herron of Fredricksburg, Va.; two granddaughters, Sherrie and Pam Cery of Cleveland; two sisters, Lillian Sibley, and Verda Sibley Jones of Many; two brothers, Pierce Sibley of Mansfield, and Harold Sibley of Newport News, Va.; many nieces and nephews also survive, which include a niece, Mrs. Geraldine Merritt Spiers of Newport News, Va., and Oswald Merritt of Many, who were raised in the family home, after the death of their mother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall (Tuck) Sibley of Many; three brothers, Roby Sibley of Zwolle, Thomas Sibley of Port Arthur, Texas, and Cecil Sibley of Galatin, Tenn.; five sisters, Anna Davenport of El Paso, Tex., Claudia Merritt, and Iva Felts, both of Many, Elva Kelly of Pisgah, and Bertha Duggan of Brazoria, Tex. Although his illness during the past few weeks kept him from doing for his friends and neighbors, he enjoyed visiting with those who came to visit with him and witness for Christ everyday. He never lost his sense of humor, and fought a valiant battle until the end, leaving a Christian example to those who knew and loved him. To know him was to love him.
