Savell, Sr. (Photo) Services for Mr. Elmer B. Savell Sr., 69, were held at 2:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Troy E. Hall, Chaplain of Overton Brooks V.A. Medical Center. Burial followed at Centuries Memorial Park. Mr. Savell died Sunday, July 7, at Schumpert Medical Center, after a brief illness. He was a native of Zwolle, La., and a resident of Shreveport. He was a Baptist, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a member of the American Legion. He was a truck driver with D. C. Hall, Braswell Freight Line, and Yellow Trucking Co. He was preceded in death by his son, Elmer B. Savell Jr. Survivors include his wife, Dessie Savell, Shreveport; four daughters, Gloria Isaac, Longview, Texas, Carolyn Nicholson, Shreveport, Elizabeth Mancil, Grand Cane, Mary Ester Savell, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Stella Melder, Beaumont, Texas, Vick Sullivan, Orange, Texas; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Chester Stutts, William Nicholson Jr., Tommy Smith, Robert Mancil III, Robert Mancil Jr., and Jeff McCory.
