All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Bobby Savell Bobby Savell, 24, of Route 1, Anacoco, drowned at about 3 p.m., July 19, while swimming in Lake Vernon. The accident occurred about three miles west of Anacoco, while he was swimming under a bridge on Louisiana Hwy 111. the piers of the bridge are about 12 feet apart, and Savell, who could not swim well, was attempting to swim from one to the other in water about 20 to 25 feet deep. Some children saw him go under, and fail to come up, and called for help. Three men, who were on the lake, assisted in rescuing the body, which they recovered about an hour later. The men working to rescue the body were Billy John Carr of Hornbeck, Ronnie Hayes of Leesville, and Robert Powlowski of Ft. Polk.
