Sepulvado (Photo) Funeral services (Mass) for Mrs. Ruby M. Sepulvado, 75, of Zwolle, Louisiana, were held Monday, Feb. 17, 1997, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Officiating was Father David Richter. Interment was at St. Joseph's Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Ms. Sepulvado died in her sleep Friday morning, Feb. 14, Valentines Day. Her death was preceded by a brief battle against a terminal illness, pancreatic cancer. At the time of her death, Mrs. Sepulvado was temporarily residing at the new Schumpert Medical Center's Grace Home Hospice, staffed by doctors and nurses from Schumpert, and operated by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. "Miss Ruby", as most of her friends knew her, was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Zwolle. Although a lifelong resident of Zwolle, she did briefly reside in Japan, with her husband, during a military assignment, then Natchitoches, while her husband taught at Northwestern State University, and then later, Bossier City. Mrs. Sepulvado was a tower of faith, happiness, and friendliness to all who knew her, most especially, the members of her home church, St. Joseph's. She was not only a homemaker, but maintained a lifelong service of ministries to our Lord and Savior. Her ministries, service, and credits included work as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Secretary, and later President of the Council of Catholic Women (2 terms), chairperson of the Liturgy Committee, Secretary for the Pastoral Council, the governing body of elected members at St. Joseph's, and Captain for St. Theresa's Circle of Women, several times. She also ministered to the elderly and shut-ins. She remained actively involved with most all social activities and annual events the church sponsored. In appreciation of, and a tribute to all her service, Mrs. Sepulvado was awarded the Diocesan Medal of Honor from Bishop Friend in 1995. Mrs. Sepulvado was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Paul H. Sepulvado. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Davis Ebarb of Stonewall, and Jaclyn Danner Chapman of Gautier, Miss.; one son, William (Billy) J. Danner of Gautier, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Martinez of Zwolle, and Mrs. Margaret Burnham of Bossier City; one brother, Mr. Otis V. Martinez of Wichita, Kan.; a special niece and nephew, Gloria J. Sims of Eustace, Texas, and John A.
