Spinks, 86, of Ruston, were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 30, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston. The Rev. Chris Andrews officiated, assisted by the Rev. Rollie Walker, Dr. Doug McGuire, and Dr. Henry Blount. Burial was at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Rev. Spinks, a retired Methodist minister, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1987, at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston, after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Pleasant Hill. He served as pastor of Methodist churches in Delhi, La., Sicily Island, La., Haughton, La., Lisbon, La., Eunice, La., Abbeville, La., DeQuincy, La., Jena, La., Alexandria, La., and Shreveport, La. He is survived by his wife, Grace Allen Spinks of Ruston; two daughters, Peggy Hughes of Oakdale, La., and Betty Bales of Monroe, La.; one son, Tommy Spinks of Arlington, Tex.; one brother, Leslie L. Spinks of Lake Charles, La.; and nine grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Retired Ministers Home Board, or to the Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund in Ruston.
