"Bob" Spier died at North Sabine Nursing Home Tuesday, June 29, 1999, two days before his birthday. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 2 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Many with interment following at Many Cemetery. Officiating were Dr. Ed Scott, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Many, Monsignor Norman Buvens, Chaplain at Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport; and the Rev. C. J. Walea, pastor of the United Pentecostal Church of Many. Special music was by Edwina Thedford. Bob was a native of Many and resided in Manhattan Beach, Calif, for 25 years. He was a production and drilling superintendent for American Pacific International and served in the United States Army. He returned to Many in 1983. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Many. Bob was a former athlete and continued as an avid sports fan throughout his life. He enjoyed great stories and reminiscing with his friends about events through his life. Survivors include his mother, Vivian Spier and two daughters, Toni Naomi Spier and Laura Lee Spier. Mr. Spier was preceded in death by his father, Jeff L. Spier and brother, Bill L. Spier. Pallbearers were Harlon Wright, Clay Abington, Gene Hubley, J. J. Westbrook, John Hoagland, Gailor Phares, Don Burkett and Keith Walker. Honorary pallbearers were Jimbo Hale, Sammy Hodge, John Byrd, Oscar Alford, Dean Lambert, Dickie Devargas, Sonny Powell, Jack McBride, Doug Abington and Walker Alford.
