Seever 1 Feb 1929 - Mrs. J. M. Seever died at her home in Many last Saturday afternoon at 6 o'clock, after a few days illness of pneumonia. The remains were laid to rest Sunday afternoon in New Hope Cemetery, Rev. J. M. Pate, pastor of the Many Baptist church, conducting the funeral services, which were attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Mrs. Seever was a fine character and was the mother of a large, highly respected and most useful family. She was born in the state of New York December 24, 1855, being a month over 73 years of age at her demise. Her maiden name was Emma Gene Millard. At the age of four years she went with her parents to Kansas, in those trying pioneer days, where she grew to womanhood and wedded Dr. J. M. Seever, a native of Kentucky a sturdy, industrious and honest man who died, at a ripe old age, in Many a few months ago. The Seevers came to Sabine parish from Kansas 42 years ago, residing first in Ward 2 and later at Many and Fisher. They were neighborly, kind hearted folk and everyone who knew them were their friends. Mrs. Seever is survived by two sons and six daughters; Mrs. C. B. McCollister of Many, Mrs. E. D. Stringer of Texas, Mrs. M. V. Petty of Many, Mrs. A. R. Bryan of Slagle, Mrs. W. D. Stille of Many, and Mrs. J. Leon Palmer of Many, Mr. C. M. Seever of Alabama and Mr. W. D. Seever of Nevada, all of whom were present at the funeral except the latter and Mrs. Bryan who was ill at her home in Slagle.
