He was a native of Union Parish, but has lived in Sabine Parish for 27 years, prior to his moving to Shreveport in 1959. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, in Warren Funeral Chapel in Many, La. Dr. Kelly Fitzgerald officiated. Burial was in Many Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Funeral Home. He was survived by three daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Pierce of New Orleans, Mrs. Marsha Pursley, Miami, Florida, Mrs. Alyce Morris, Bastrop, La.; two sons, Jeff L. Spier, Shreveport, La., with whom he made his home, Henry Bennett Spier, Jonesboro, La.; one sister, Mrs. Jettie Allen, Bastrop, La.; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Oliver Elliott, George Cook, Clifton Massingill, Cecil Davis, Glen Phares, and Herman Alford.
