All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mr. Hoyt Springer Funeral services for Hoyt Stringer, 89, of Jasper, Texas, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Stinger & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper, Texas. Burial will follow in Weeks Chapel Cemetery in Newton County. Mr. Stringer died Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at Jasper Convalescent Center in Jasper, Texas. He was a native of Clara, and a former resident of Newton County, and he had resided in Jasper, Texas for the past few years. He owned and operated an Upholstery Business for many years. He served as Deacon, and Minister of Music, at several East Texas Churches. He could play several musical instruments, but he favored the organ. He taught music in Singing Schools, held at area churches. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, arts & crafts, and was good at wood working. He loved Stringer Family Reunions, held on the last Saturday in October. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Stringer Stevens of Many, La.; a host of nieces and nephews; two grandchildren, Connie Vanzant, and Tammy Smith; one great grandchild, William Caleb Vanzant. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, on September 17, 2001, Annie Louise Farr Stringer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Weeks Chapel Cemetery Fund; Rt. 1, Box 544, Jasper, Texas 75951, or to the American Diabetes Association.
