Springer, Sr. Mr. Lennis Barrington, (L. B.) Springer, Sr., 92, of Converse, died April 20, 2002 in Mansfield. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., April 22, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield, with interment following at Cassell Cemetery in Converse. The Rev. Jimmie Price officiated. Survivors include son, Amos Leon Springer of Mansfield; two daughters, Bertha Cowdin and husband Eugene of Grand Cane, and Helen Craig and husband Joe of Mansfield; two sisters, Annie Simmons of Mansfield, and Danielle Goldfield of Greenville, S. C.; four grandchildren, Sam Springer, Johnnie Springer, Colvin (Tobbie) Springer, all of Converse, and Eldon Springer of Mooringsport; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, May Bell Tatum Springer; his second wife of 37 years, Ellen Bazemore Springer; and son, Lennis Barrington Springer Jr. Pallbearers were Eugene Cowdin Jr., Roderic Allen Craig, Gregory Cowdin, Dave Permenter, Ricky Sewell, and William Kyle.
