All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Newman Siatrunk 23 Jun 1939 - Kenneth Allen Elliott, age 13 years, and Newman Sistrunk, age 16 years, were killed instantly at 6 p. m. Sunday when the truck in which they were riding crashed into an embankment near Noble. The truck was driven by E. A. Hubier, Jr., of Converse, who had given the boys a ride from Zwolle to Converse. Kenneth Allen Elliott was the talented son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Elliott of Converse, a member of the seventh grade of Converse high school, being valedictorian of his class. At the age of 13 years he was an accomplished musician and singer, rendering a number of programs, both private and for school benefit this year. Funeral services were held in Converse Monday evening with interment in the Cedar Springs cemetery. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Elliott; four brothers, Glenn Elliott, U. S. navy, Williard, C. A. Jr., and J. G., all of Converse; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Shoremire and Miss Lenna Elliott of Converse. Newman Sistrunk was the son of Sam Sistrunk, Converse. Funeral services were held Monday at 4 o'clock in Converse, with interment in the Mitchell cemetery. He is survived by one brother, Yaman Sistrunk, Converse; two half-sisters, Misses Mary Latez and Sammie Camille Sistrunk, Converse.
