The Sabine Index - Dollie Vardie Sistrunk 
  
  24 Jul 1959 - Funeral rites for Dollie Vardie Sistrunk, age 79, 
years, were held Tuesday at 10 o'clock from the Mitchell 
Methodist church with Rev. bobby Lawton officiating. Burial was 
in the Mitchell cemetery under the direction of the Drewitt 
Funeral home of Mansfield. 
  
  Survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Ellis Craig, Mitchell, 
Mrs. E. J. Best, Shreveport, Mrs. J. C. McCullor, Beaumont, Texas 
and Mrs. Joe Sanders of Baton Rouge; three sons, K. D. Sistrunk, 
Nederland, Texas, W. S. Sistrunk, Port Arthur, Texas, and W. H. 
Sistrunk of Oregon; one brother, Dan Sistrunk Converse and 12 
grandchildren. 
  \Mrs. Sistrunk (Dollie) as he was known to his many 
friends passed away at Converse Monday after a long illness. He 
was among the pioneers of Sabine parish, was active in public 
life having served as school board member from Ward Ten, Sabine 
parish for a number of years.
