Scott III, 46, were held at the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans, May 13, 1994, at 10 a.m., with Monsignor Earl Provenza officiating. A gravesite service followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Many, La. Visitation was at Rose-Neath Funeral Home at 1815 Marshall Street, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 1994. A vigil service was at 7 p.m., Thursday. John Scott died suddenly, at his residence in Shreveport. Survivors are his wife, Linda Marak Scott; two children, Leigh Scott, and J. D. Scott IV; his mother, Billie Walden Scott; his father, John D. Scott Jr.; two brothers, Ronnie P. Scott, and Larry Scott, all of Shreveport; his grandmother, Ophelia Sutton Scott of Alexandria, La., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Scott was born December 31, 1947, in Many, La. He was a graduate of Airlines High School. Mr. Scott attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Scott was a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. After a career with the Bossier City Police Department, Mr. Scott retired to continued police work in the private sector. Mr. Scott was active in community theater, St. Berchmans Catholic Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active person, who loved life, and had many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. John Berchmans Restoration Fund of Loyola College Prep Scholarship Fund.
