Stphens Jr., 69, of Shreveport, executive vice president of Pioneer Bank and Trust Co., died Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 8:15 a.m., in Schumpert Medical Center, after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Shreveport, Mr. Stephens joined Pioneer Bank and Trust when it opened in 1945, and had served as an officer and directir since then. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and was treasurer of El Karubah Shrine for more than 20 years. In 1972, he was elected treasurer emeritus of the Shrine. Mr. Stephens was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Shreveport Kiwanis club, the Petroleum Club, and the Caddo Lodge 179. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 4 p.m., at Osborn's Funeral Home, with Dr. D. L. Dykes, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery. Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. W. T. Allen of Monroe, and Mrs. J. B. Slattery of Houston, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Harvey Davidson of Many, and Mrs. J. C. Griffith, and Mrs. Ed Walsh, both of Shreveport; and 10 grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be made to either the Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children, or to Holy Angels School.
