Stephens Wallace Samuel Stephens, 71, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stephens, died Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Cresthaven Nursing Home in Groves, Texas, after an extended illness. He was a native of Natchitoches, and a resident of Port Neches, Texas for 33 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and V.F.W. Post No. 4820. He was a World War II veteran. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m., at Pat Riley Funeral Home in Nederland, with Rev. Ernest Parkhurst officiating. Military rites followed at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Geraldine Stephens; two step daughters, Mrs. Betty Simon of Port Neches, Tex., and Mrs. Elaine Sorbet of Baton Rouge; a step son, Jack Sparks of Port Neches, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Ora Self of Many, Mrs. Ollie Legg of Drew, Ms. Naomi Cook of Groves, and Mrs. Katherine Anding of Natchitoches; four brothers, Carlton Stephens of Houma, and Warren Stephens, Harold Stephens, and Louis Stephens, all of Natchitoches. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
