Mrs. Stevens was born in Texarkana, Tex., graduated from Fair Parks High School, Shreveport in 1937, and was a member of Bayou Scie United Methodist Church in Zwolle, prior to her move to Washington D.C. in 1941. She was a former Regent of the Chevy Chase, Md. Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a longtime member of the National Genealogical Society, and the Natchitoches, Ark-La-Tex, and Louisiana Genealogical Societies. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Robert J. Stevens of Rockville, Md.; three children, William L. Stevens of Ijamsville, Md., David A. Stevens of Thurmont, Md., and Mary Dolly Stevens of Purcellville, Va.; her mother, Tressie E. Nash Shull Bowman of Thurmont, Md., and three grandchildren. Interment took place at Rockville Cemetery in Rockville, Md.
