Stevens of Lafayette, was recovered from Toledo Bend at 11:15 a.m., Saturday, by the Sabine Parish Rescue Boat, Toledo Bend Project workers, and members of the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Dept. He was drowned April 7. On hand at the rescue was Deputy Travis Bennett of the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Dept., Donnell Killian of Toledo Bend Project workers, and Munsford Kay, Leesville Sheriff. It was reported that the body was sighted approximately 500 yards from where he was believed to have drowned. Rescue workers sighted a tiny hand sticking out of the water. He is survived by his parents; a brother, Mark Stevens of Lafayette; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Stevens of Ball; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Miller of Annadale, Va. Funeral services were held in Holy Cross Catholic Church later this week. Burial was in St. John Fatima Cemetery in Leesville, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home.
