Mrs. Mavis Marie Chance Stephens

  Mrs. Mavis Marie Chance Stephens, 86, of Morgan City, died Oct.
16, 2002, in the Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.

  Mrs. Stephens was a homemaker, and a member of Faith Baptist
Church in Bayou Vista. She was born and raised in the
Florien/Gandy area, and was a graduate of Florien High School.
She loved to sew and read, and had a passion for gardening.

  Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Oct. 19, in the Hixson
Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with interment following at
Castor Cemetery in Leesville. The Rev. Ted Kullerd officiated.

  Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Melba Stephens Kullerd of
Morgan City; two brothers, Hance Chance of Oakdale, and Vance
Chance of Nederland, Texas; three granddaughters; and one great
grandson.
