Stoker 11 Jun 1947 - Allen C. Stoker of Fort Jesup community died at his home Wednesday evening, July 2, on his 89th birthday after a lingering illness. Mr. Stoker spent his entire life in Fort Jesup community, having been born within one mile of his home. "Uncle Allen," as he was called by both white and colored of the community, was widely known as a progressive farmer and leader. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Friday at Fort Jesup Baptist church, conducted by Revs. Oliver Roberts and M. B. Atkins. Interment was in the family plot at Fort Jesup cemetery under direction Massingill funeral home. Mr. Stoker is survived by one son, Ross N. Stoker, Robeline; five daughters, Mrs. John Lege, Robeline, Mrs. Kathryn Tillery, Shreveport; Mrs. John L. Sharp, Mooringsport, Mrs. Era S. Pace, New Iberia, and Mrs. Edwin L. Reed, Gibsland. Other surviving relatives are two brothers, a sister, 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, besides numerous nieces and nephews. His friends were numbered by his acquaintances. Pallbearers were the following nephews: C. C. Stoker, Evie Stoker, Morris Stoker, Carl Stoker, R. J. Stoker and Jack Winn.
