Staton came to a close Friday, July 26, 1985, at 11:00 p.m. She was called to take her rest at her residence. She was born to the late John and Mary Dowell on March 9, 1899, in Pollard, Alabama. She was married to Mr. Norman Staton on Sept. 17, 1927. She was foster mother to 14 children. She joined the St. John Baptist Church at an early age, and later united with Haskins Chapel United Methodist Church. She joined the Star of Hope Grand Chapter O.E.S. Queen Victoria Chapter No. 74, DeRidder, La., on May 30, 1956. Sister Staton leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Mr. Norman Staton of Zwolle, La., foster children, Mr. Arnold "Jack" Staton of Zwolle, La., Mrs. Mary Staton Jackson of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Bridgette Staton Lynch of Zwolle, La.; one sister, Mrs. Estella Wasp of Point Claire, Alabama; seven foster grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
