Stallworth (Photo) Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie L. Stallworth were held at 2 p.m., on March 31, at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Rev. Donny Edmonson, pastor of Redland Baptist Church officiated, along with Rev. Clois Rogers, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist. Interment was in Yellow Pine Cemetery, Florien, under the direction of Jenkins Funeral Home. Mrs. Stallworth died at Byrd Hospital in Leesville, on March 27, 1995. Mrs. Stallworth was born to the late Floyd Lewing and Sudie Morris Lewing, on December 29, 1906, in Clara, Louisiana. She was converted at an early age, and joined the St. Mary Baptist Church. She united in holy matrimony, to Eddie Stallworth. To this union, ten children were born. She then moved her membership to St. James Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. C. R. Sowell. She served as president of the Usher Board, Chairperson of Deaconesses, and Missions. After the church was dissolved, she moved her membership to Bright Star Baptist Church, under the leadership of Carl Lilly. She moved to San Francisco, California, and joined the Mount Trinity Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Paul Preston. She moved back to Louisiana, and joined the Redland Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Donny Edmonson. She was a dedicated member of her churches. She was a chartered member of the Star of East Chapter #48. Survivors are one son, Eddie Stallworth Jr. and wife of Dumfries, Va.; five daughters, Laveria Jordan and husband of San Francisco, Calif., Susie Anderson of Dumfries, Va., Alma Cross and husband of Many, La., Ruth Jackson of San Francisco, Calif., and Leversie Johnson and husband of San Francisco, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; seven sisters, Lottie Williams of Braden, Fla., Joe Ella Fuller of Doyline, Alma Spencer of Florien, Nellie D. Neal of Los Angeles, Calif., Dessie Edmonson and husband of Florien, Maurice Newton of Arlington, Tex., Maybelle Peacock of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Rev. Linburg Simmons of Garland, Tex.; nine special Godchildren, Rosie Woods, Hazel Hawkins, and Christine Davenport of Oklahoma City, Deacon Henry Land and wife of San Francisco, Calif., Rev. and Sister I. W. Norsworthy of Kirbyville, Tex., June Thompson of Hemphill, Tex., and Eugenia Harris of Many; five sisters-in-law; one step sister; and a host of special friends, nieces, nephews, and relatives. Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Redland Baptist Church. Flower Bearers were Mission Minister's Wife and Deaconesses.
