All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Miss Hazel Lois Strebeck Miss Hazel Lois Strebeck, 61, went to be with the Lord, Friday afternoon, May 14, 1999, following a lengthy illness. Graveside services were held at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 16, at the Union Cemetery in Belmont. The Rev. Doug Burnley officiated. Miss Hazel was born April 13, 1938, in Belmont. She was educated in the Sabine Parish schools, graduating from Belmont High in 1956. She received her B.S.N. from Northwestern State in 1961. Miss Hazel did graduate work at the University of Wyoming, and the University of Connecticut. During her years as a nurse, she served in Louisiana, Kentucky, Connecticut, Wyoming, Alaska, and Virginia. During her years in public health, she piloted a plane, in ministering to Indian groups in Alaska. She returned to Louisiana in February of 1999, after several years of retirement in Boones Mill, Va. She lived her life as a faithful Christian, having a particular interest in missions. she is the author of a study of a early Baptist work in Virginia, and of the Virginia Baptist Convention Survivors include her sister, Ann S. Nichols, Thomas O. Strebeck, Mesquite, Texas, and E. J. Cobb of Orange, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Miss Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Lester O. Strebeck and Edna Skinner Strebeck Cobb. Warm and grateful thanks are given to the Dubuis Rehab staff and the eighth floor staff at Schumpert Medical Center, especially Leigh Peregoy, Dr. Phil Wang, and Chaplain Doug Burnley.
