Strickland, 75, of Many, were held at the Lewing Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, Friday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m. Officiating at the services were the church pastor, the Rev. J. M. Jarrell, and the Rev. Melvin Smith. Burial was in the Shady Grove Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Ottis Lewing, Jim Lewing, Jimmy Hildebrand, Wayne Adams, Darrell Hood, and Tommy Joe Cox. Mr. Strickland was a retired school bus driver, and a longtime employee of the Sabine Parish Police Jury. He was also a member of the Lewing Chapel Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Hazel Strickland of Many; four sons, Dovie Strickland, and Mike Strickland, both of Many, Delmer Strickland of Shreveport, and Richard (Andy) Strickland Jr. of Denham Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Darlene Bennett of Many, and Mrs. Helen Hood of Abilene, Tex.; one brother, Sam Strickland of Burkeville, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Hardy of Many, Mrs. Agnes Buyea of Leesville, and Mrs. Zella Boyett of Dallas, Tex.; 15 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
