Carmel Baptist Church on July 16, at 4 p.m. Mr. Starks lay in state at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church from 2 p.m., July 15, until service time on Tuesday. Rev. Larry DeLoach, and Rev. Earl Marr officiated the ceremony. Interment was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Mary Starks of Florien; five sons, Wylie M. Starks, Jr. of Denham Springs, Charles C. Starks of Kennewick, Wash., Walter Glenn Starks of Florien, Cliff Starks of Denham Springs, and Joe Starks of Many; five daughters, Jean Weldon of Florien, Doris Durr of Pleasant Hill, Delight Stewart of Florien, Jerry Lampin of Martinsville, Tex., and Joy Salter of Florien; one brother, John Starks of Minneola, Tex.; two sisters, Alena Nichols of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mable Taylor of Springfield, Missouri; thirty one grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
