All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** John Azah Strickland (Photo) Funeral services for Mr. John Azah Strickland of Florien, were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 3, 1993, at the Cenchrea Church of the Nazarene in Florien, with Rev. Ron Berry, Rev. W. P. Lowe, and Rev. Bill Mercer officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Strickland passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 1993, at the Sabine Medical Center in Many. He was born July 15, 1891, in Florien. He was a charter member of Cenchrea Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Skinner Strickland; and two daughters, Doye Bradford, and Arlene Strickland. Mr. Strickland is survived by four sons, Loy Strickland of Florien, Freeman Strickland of Dallas, Hoy Strickland, and Fred Strickland, both of Shreveport; seven daughters, Laverne Blackmon, Colene Anglin, Bobbie Parker, Shirley Brock, and Betty Whittington, all of Shreveport, Ivalee Stewart of Bethany, Okla., and Mary Lou McClung of Natchitoches; one niece, Forthie Cole of Hornbeck; two nephews, Robert Strickland of Anacoco, and Elvin Jones of Bossier City; 30 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were his four sons, and grandsons, John Whittington, John David McClung, Rex Anglin, and Bob Anglin. Other grandsons were honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Cenchrea Church of the Nazarene, or the American Heart Association.
